The Trailhead Get Jerky Devil’s Staircase Ultra Trail Race, has been set for the 4th October 2025.

Location: The race starts and finishes in the centre of Llanwrtyd Wells, Powys, Mid Wales.
Distance: Approximately 50 km (31.5 miles), making it an ultra-trail race.
Elevation: It features a significant total ascent and descent of about 1585m (5,200ft).
The “Devil’s Staircase” Itself: This is an iconic, “hellishly steep” section of the route with a 25% gradient. It’s renowned in both running and cycling circles.
Terrain: The route is predominantly off-road, comprising a mixture of tarmac road, forest tracks, and farmland. It also includes two river crossings (fords).

Organisation: The race is organised by Green Events.
Support: The course is thoroughly marshalled and waymarked, with water points and two feed stations providing hot and cold drinks, bananas, biscuits, and sweets.
Finish Line Perks: Upon completion, runners receive a unique “devil” medal, and there’s Welsh cawl (a traditional Welsh soup) with a vegetarian alternative on offer. Prizes are awarded to the first three male and female runners.
Entry Fee: The entry fee is typically around £45.
